![]() LM - HUMAN HERPES VIRUS Description: Histological slide of the human herpes virus-6 (HHV-6) previously known as HBLV, a type of herpes virus that was discovered in October, 1986. This is a photomicrograph of infected cells, with inclusion bodies in both the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The slide is stained with H&E. HHV-6 infects T-lymphocytes. The only disease that has been conclusively linked to HHV-6 is Exanthem subitum, a feverish illness of children. In immunosuppressed people it is a possible cause of pneumonitis.
